The Boorman family built The house of death in 1856. The house is one of the most haunted places in America. Reputation for the house of death began with the Boorman family. Bad luck started in August 1897, when Famous bicycler Andrew hit an 8-year-old boy in front of the homer and broke his leg. From there on, Andrew was never the same.
At one point, Mark Twain became the owner of the house. He wrote a lot about his paranormal experiences even though he was a skeptic. He once saw a piece of wood floating through the air. Once he noticed, he took a shot at the wood, which then dropped from the air with a bit of blood. Mark Twain did move out of the home before his death. However, it is said you can still see him roaming the spiral staircase of the home.
In 1957, famous physicist Jan Bryant Burtell moved into the house. Burtell often talked about a massive shadow that followed her around the home and food would just go missing all the time. She also had an encounter with Mark Twain. Burtell said she saw him there at the top of the stairs, and he told her he had unfinished business in the home. Burtell had an investigator come to the house who said there were 22 spirits there. Burtell’s dog was the first to die, then within 24 hours, 9 of her tenants ended up dying.
In 1987 Hedda Nussbaum was a tenant in the home a the time. She had called the police saying her daughter was not breathing. When the police arrived, they found her daughter naked on the floor, not breathing. The son was found tied to his playpen covered in urine, and Hedda was covered in bruises and had serval broken bones. They also ended up finding lots of drugs and money. It was later discovered the daughter Lisa was killed from multiple hits to the head by her father.
At this point, The house of death has had at least 22 deaths that are known. The home can be located at 14 West Street Greenwich Village, New York City.
