Tony Costa, also known as Tony Chop Chop or the Cape Cod Vampire, is an infamous serial killer from Massachusetts. Born on August 2, 1944, Costa was always seen as a loner. When he was 18 years old, he moved to Province Town, Massachusetts. Since he was not from Cape Cod, he was an outcast and seen as a “wash ashore,” a none native to Cape Cod. However, he was seen as a very handsome man and did well with women. When he was just 18, he married a girl only 14 years old. He was often seen picking her up from school. He tended to hang out with people much younger than himself.
Since it was the late 60’s, the hippy movement was full-blown and brought drugs. Tony had a place in the woods he would grow Marijuana. He was very free with his drugs and provided or smoked with anyone who asked. Not only was he big with the devil’s lettuce, but he also did a variety of psychedelic drugs.
While staying at a boarding home, Tony met young ladies Patricia Walsh and Mary Anne Wysocki. However, they soon disappeared without a trace. The first body was found in the nearby town of Truro. A man was walking through the woods when he saw a green bag. He picked up the bag, and that’s when he found body parts. This ended up being the Body of Susan, she was cut up into eight different pieces. About a month later, the police found the head and torso of Marry Anne and the bodies of Sydney Monson and Patricia Walsh. All the bodies were always cut into different pieces. Most of his victims would be found in his garden of Marijuana.

After Tony had shot his victims, he would bring them to Pine Grove Cemetery in Truro. He would then use an ancient crypt to cut them up. After this, he would bring them to his garden to be buried. The bodies would often be found with bite marks, where the Vampire of Cape Cod came from.
Even though the suspicion was on Tony, he got away with it for a while. Since it was during the hippie movement, the police would either ignore it or couldn’t disprove what Tony said. However, on June 12, 1969, Tony was brought up on three murder charges. Then in May of 1970, he was convicted of two murders and sentenced to life in prison. Only four years later, Tony took his own life by hanging. Some believe that he was murdered.
Even though Tony was only Convicted of 2 murders, it is believed he killed at least eight women. Diane Federoff, Bonnie Williams, Barbara Spaulding, Sydney Monson, Susan Perry, Christine Gallant, Patricia Walsh, and Mary Anne Wysocki.

I want to give a quick thanks to Nikki and Matt for telling me about this case.
